Shawn Piers

Shawn Piers, Distinguished Technical Fellow at MetroStar, is an executive cybersecurity leader with more than 30 years of experience delivering secure communications, enterprise networking, and cyber operations supporting the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, and Executive Office of the President. He leads MetroStar’s NetSecOps capability, helping customers strengthen mission resilience through secure communications, Zero Trust principles, operational excellence, and modern network architectures.

Before joining MetroStar as a Distinguished Technical Fellow, Shawn served as a Senior Systems Engineer at Palo Alto Networks, where he was recognized as the 2023 U.S. Public Sector Sales Engineer of the Year and led technical strategy supporting the Department of Defense’s Thunderdome Zero Trust program. Earlier in his career, he spent nearly two decades supporting the National Security Council as a Principal Network Engineer and Program Manager, leading secure communications for one of the federal government’s most sensitive mission environments.

A former United States Marine, Shawn is passionate about mentoring the next generation of engineers, advancing AI-enabled cyber operations, and building resilient NetSecOps capabilities that help government organizations securely accomplish their most critical missions.
