Austin Herrling

Austin Herrling, Technical Fellow at MetroStar, is a seasoned leader with extensive military and technology experience. His innovation and data strategy work continues to drive forward-thinking solutions for government agencies, positioning them for success in an increasingly data-driven world.

Before joining MetroStar, Austin served as the U.S. Army Software Factory’s Chief Data Officer (CDO) under Army Futures Command. As an Army captain, he specialized in Operations Research and Systems Analysis. His distinguished military career also includes a tour as the 3rd Brigade Combat Team Chief Innovation Officer, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), where he led transformative initiatives in military operations and data utilization.

Austin holds a bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy and a master’s from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
