 How to get to and from the City and the Airport The Comodoro Arturo Merino Benitez Airport is 13 miles, or 20.8 kilometres, from downtown Santiago. Taxis are freely available and are inexpensive; an average fare costs around $20 (US dollars). Look for the yellow taxis with the black roofs. There are also frequent and reliable bus services; however, these take a little longer although they are less expensive than taxis. Car rentals are available from the airport from any one of the international car rental companies that operate from there. Driving in the city, however, can be hazardous and confusing.
