Metrostar.com is the public face on the world wide web of Transmetro Corporation Limited, the oldest Australian owned hotel group in Australia. The group had its origins incorporated in 1979 and listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1987. The group operates Metro Hotels, an Australia wide chain of hotels, inns and serviced apartments, has it's own Central Reservations System, and has been active in Internet marketing for several years. Transmetro is a partner in Qantas Frequent Flyers, and was an official supplier to the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, having pledged its commitment during the 1993 bid process.

The directors of the company include Alan Notley, who was Executive Director and Financial Controller of the Ansett Group for 11 years before retiring in 1992, Chairman of Diners Club Australia, Chairman of Traveland International Pty Ltd (operator of 250 travel agencies), Chairman of Ansett Pioneer Bus Lines and Director of Hamilton Island Airport Pty Ltd. Alan is presently Chairman of ASP Ship Management Pty Ltd. Another director is John McEvoy, who has been associated with the hotel industry for 25 years. John has an extensive background in administration and financial control and is an astute analyst of economic and industry trends and cycles. The third director is David Lloyd, a consultant specialist in corporate restructuring, planning, and insolvency. David consults principally for Star Dean-Willcocks in Sydney.
