How to get to and from the Airport and the City
The Hartsfield International Airport is 9 miles, or 14.4 kilometres, south west of downtown Atlanta. The best forms of transport between the City and the Airport are taxis, which are freely available and generally not expensive, and the MARTA railway system. Most of the major hotels provide shuttle bus services and there are rental cars available from the airport. All the international and national car rental companies have an airport presence.
Getting around in Atlanta
The MARTA railway system is probably the most efficient way of getting around the City. The system links to buses where there is no rail route and there is no additional fare. Taxis are plentiful and the drivers appear skilled in local tourist information, and are generally quite helpful. Renting a car is an option although traffic in the downtown area can become congested.
